Title: Director Market Exploration & Development, NV&S
“In August 2024 Kemira announced changes to its operating model to better meet profitable growth ambitions. This open position will be part of the planned new organization which will be effective as of Jan 1, 2025.”
We are now looking for Director, Market Exploration & Development for our New Ventures & Services (NV&S) business unit.
The purpose of this role is to lead strategic marketing activities globally to accelerate growth in NV&S focus areas and identify new/adjacent markets. This position can be located in either North America or Europe.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Strategic Market Development:
- Provide recommendations and implement key strategic marketing initiatives to accelerate business growth in strategic focus areas
- Identify, evaluate, and assess new or adjacent markets, providing strategic recommendations for Kemira’s market entry
- Conduct comprehensive market, competition, and technology analysis, offering data-driven insights to inform market and commercial development
Product Portfolio & Commercialization Support:
- Collaborate with Business Managers to co-develop business cases for new organic and inorganic growth opportunities, ensuring robust analysis and clear recommendations
- Lead hypothesis driven learning, or similar frameworks, for supporting the commercialization of new products and technologies
- Contribute to the commercialization process by refining value propositions and supporting the launch of new products into target markets
Market & Eco-system Engagement:
- Manage and maintain relationships with market intelligence vendors, ensuring access to critical insights and data to inform business strategies
- Continuously seek market intelligence across the value chain to stay ahead of market and technology trends and to support commercialization
- Actively engage with key trade associations and industry bodies to stay updated on emerging trends and advocate for Kemira’s position in new markets
- Serve as a thought leader, presenting insights, trends, and solutions, in collaboration with Business Managers, at conferences and industry events to enhance Kemira’s visibility and reputation
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Master’s degree or above, major in chemistry or other relevant technical field with MBA, or Masters in Business/Marketing is preferred
- At least 10-15 years working experience in the chemicals industry or other relevant B2B industry, preferably in at least one of the Kemira NV&S focus areas which include barrier coatings, renewable performance solutions, renewable water treatment, textiles and battery chemistries
- Prior strategic marketing experience is a must. Prior strategy consulting experience is a major plus
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and an ability to work across organizational boundaries combined with the ability to inspire and motivate people
- Strong business and financial acumen and broad business knowledge of sustainable materials and markets
- Proven successful track record in partnerships and creating new opportunities in new markets, and leading innovation and commercialization of new products
- Successful track record as a people leader and talent developer
- High level data analysis ability and ability to provide strategic solutions
- Ability to demonstrate Kemira leadership principles
- Fluent in English communications
- High level of ethics and compliance
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time
