Title:  Manager, Business Creation, New Ventures, Barrier, Americas

We are now looking for a Business Creation Manager, Barrier, North America for our New Ventures & Services business Unit.

 

In this position, you will contribute to business creation activities for barrier applications in North America with the focus on renewable barriers, supporting the identification, development, and commercialization of new business opportunities. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams, managing new product development, and driving strategic initiatives to grow the barrier business in the region.

 

You can be based at our headquarters in Helsinki or at any of our local offices across the North America.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and compiling new sales prospects, prioritizing and qualifying leads for the next sales phase, and transitioning qualified prospects to the Sales team.
  • Analyzing and evaluating new business opportunities specifically for renewable barrier solutions to contribute to the development of strategic and tactical plans for products, services, business models, and potential mergers & acquisitions.
  • Collaborating with regional Application and Sales teams to organize and execute Business Creation activities, including proof-of-concept trials, product launches, and technical sales, ensuring that development activities are completed on time, within budget, and with quality.
  • Generating business plans, value proposals, and pricing guidelines for new business models in the region.
  • Leading meetings and negotiations with potential customers and business partners to pursue business opportunities and protect the organization’s interests.
  • Supporting Global Business & Portfolio Management in strategy and business plan creation by providing regional application and customer-specific input.
  • Driving new product development from ideation to commercialization, supported by cross-functional teams (Applications, Sales, Global Business & Portfolio Management, New Technology Platforms, and R&I).
  • Managing the financial results of commercialization activities in the region.
  • Providing regional content for external marketing communication plans, working with Marketing to create customer-facing materials (e.g., PowerPoint presentations) and collaborating with Sales and Applications teams for customer interaction.

 

What you’ll bring to the team: 

  • Master’s degree or above in a relevant technical field (e.g., Chemistry, Paper Chemistry, Packaging Technology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or other relevant fields) or experience equivalent.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant industrial experience in paper-based packaging, paper converting or coating.
  • Proven track record of creating new business growth, including the commercialization and launch of new products/technologies, with resilience required for driving long-term commercial projects.
  • Deep technical understanding of barrier solutions, coupled with knowledge of market and regulatory trends, industry value chains, competitive environment, and customer value creation.
  • Established networks with key stakeholders in packaging and converting industries.
  • Strong strategic thinking and sharp commercial mindset, with a techno-optimistic attitude and the ability to execute business plans at the regional level.
  • Comfortable and effective in engaging with new and unfamiliar customers, especially in new markets and environments.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with emotional intelligence, the ability to work across organizational boundaries, and strong persuasion and negotiation abilities.
  • High level of ethics and compliance in all business practices.
