We are looking for a full time Controls Specialist.  This position will report to the Maintenance Manager. 

Job Duties

  • Safety and Environmental
    • Work in a way that insures the safety of themselves and of all plant personnel
    • comply with plant safety and environmental rules and regulations including OSHA
  • Controls Specialist
    • Write controls system logic, modify existing logic for Opto22.
    • Create operator interface
    • Troubleshoot I/O and PLC hardware
    • Maintain and expand plant DCS system
    • Back up control logic on regular basis
  • Electrician
    • Calibrate field instruments
    • Tune control loops in field
    • Troubleshoot motor control
    • Troubleshoot rectifier controls
    • Electrical PM work as required
  • Inventory
    • Maintain minimum level of electrical stock items on hand
    • Maintain critical spare parts for rectifier/transformers/DCS
    • Maintain housekeeping standards in work area and storage areas---organized, neat, clean
  • Obtain services, tools, rental equipment as needed by Maintenance


Working Conditions

  • 40 hrs. per week, day shift; overtime and weekend hours can be expected
  • Work will be in areas with and without air conditioning---in the plant or the maintenance shop
  • Chemical Plant/Industrial Environment


Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of programming language and experience writing control logic for PLC. (Kemira will train applicant on Opton22.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Physical requirements
    • able to lift 30 lbs.
    • able to climb ladders and stairs; able to work at heights
  • Safety---be aware of general safety requirements in chemical plants
