Title:  Coordinator - Lab & EHSQ

Coordinator – Laboratory Services & EHSQ

Industry & Water supports municipalities and water intensive industries in the efficient and sustainable utilization of resources. Kemira helps municipalities, private operators and water intensive industries in the transition towards circular economy by enabling water reuse and improved water treatment efficiency at every stage of water management.


We are actively seeking a Lab and EHSQ Coordinator who will be responsible for quality lab functions as well as environmental compliance and safety within the Brantford manufacturing facility.



  • Analytical testing on iron by-product samples and prepare COAs for customers
  • Support H&S standards, procedures and initiatives including local, federal regulations and Kemira policies and requirements for chemical manufacturing plant
  • Maintain site IMS system (Quality, Environmental and H&S), including documentation, internal auditing, corrective actions, coordinate and maintain production records.
  • Site liaison with Corporate EHSQ and external auditors
  • Utilize fully integrated IT business system (SAP) in all processes
  • Act as back up for quality lab; complete analytical testing on in-process and final products, prepare reagents, and perform general lab duties as required
  • Support Plant Manager on other duties as assigned

What you need:  


  • Bachelor’s degree (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering), or College diploma (Lab Technician or Technologist) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing
  • Environmental and/or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate – not required but desired
  • EHSQ system knowledge by education or training


  • Analytical lab experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High degree of attention to safety and accident prevention
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IMS standards (ISO, etc) through formal training
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills
  • Strong knowledge of basic chemical reactions utilized in the manufacturing process
  • Overall knowledge of chemical processing equipment, plant processes, environmental guidelines, and state, federal and local employment law
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IMS standards (ISO, etc) through formal training
  • Strong computer skills- MS Word, Excel, etc
  • Experience utilizing fully integrated business system, such as SAP or similar business system
