Title:  Coordinator - EHS & Lab Support

Coordinator  – EHSQ & Lab Support

Industry & Water supports municipalities and water intensive industries in the efficient and sustainable utilization of resources. Kemira helps municipalities, private operators and water intensive industries in the transition towards circular economy by enabling water reuse and improved water treatment efficiency at every stage of water management.

 

We are actively seeking a EHSQ Coordinator who will be responsible for health, safety, and environmental compliance, along with supporting the quality lab functions within the Brantford manufacturing facility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analytical testing of iron by-product samples and preparation of COAs for customers
  • Responsible for H&S standards, procedures and initiatives to comply with local, provincial and federal regulations, as well as compliance with Kemira policies and requirements
  • Maintenance of site IMS system (Quality, Environmental and H&S), including documentation, internal auditing, corrective actions, coordination and maintenance of production records
  • Act as site lead and representative with Corporate EHSQ and external auditors
  • Utilize fully integrated IT business system (SAP) in all processes
  • Act as back up for quality lab; complete analytical testing on in-process and final products, prepare reagents, and perform general lab duties as required
  • Support Plant Manager on other duties as assigned

What you need:  

 

  • Post Secondary education in Health and Safety, or a combination of chemical industry experience and transferable education, with a minimum of 2 years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Environmental and/or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate

EHSQ system knowledge

  • Knowledge of critical safety systems such as: Lock-out, tag-out, confined space, elevated work, hot work
  • Analytical lab experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High degree of attention to safety and accident prevention
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IMS standards (ISO, etc) through formal training
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills
  • Strong knowledge of basic chemical reactions utilized in the manufacturing process
  • Overall knowledge of chemical processing equipment, plant processes, environmental guidelines, and provincial, federal and local employment law
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IMS standards (ISO, etc)
  • Strong computer skills- MS Word, Excel, etc
  • Experience utilizing fully integrated business system, such as SAP or similar business system
