Maintenance Mechanic

We are now looking for an experienced maintenance mechanic for our Eastover, SC manufacturing facility in our Pulp & Paper segment. Maintenance mechanics install, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment according to manufacturer’s or site specifications using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments.  Primary skills necessary are pipe fitting and welding, including PVC/CPVC, and maintenance of rotating equipment (i.e. pumps, agitators, blowers, etc.).  You will need to be able to read and understand written work instructions, equipment manuals & diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

What you need

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant degree or certifications from a trade school or other recognized training facility.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills, basic computer and math skills required.
  • Must be able to lift 80 pounds, ascend 4+ flights of stairs, climb ladders and work in adverse conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing facility (i.e. hot/cold/rainy weather conditions, cramped or confining spaces, loud and/or dusty environments). 
  • Minimum 2 years experience in chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience in SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Maintain and monitor plant equipment to assure safe operation, regulatory compliance, product quality, and plant efficiency.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and correct equipment malfunctions and abnormal situations.
  • Report relevant equipment problems and work with operations personnel to troubleshoot and correct problems.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance work, per plant policies.
  • Perform all duties with minimal supervision.
  • Comply with safety and environmental procedures and regulations and follow all plant policies.
  • Maintain work areas in clean condition and perform housekeeping duties.
  • Participate in safety and planning meetings as directed.
  • Assist in planning maintenance activities, procedures and methods in accordance with procedures and guidelines.
  • Complete paperwork as required and use SAP Plant Maintenance module for work order workflow.
