We are now looking for an Environment, Health, Safety and Quality Manager for our Eastover, SC location. This position will lead and administer a proactive safety program to assure a positive safety culture throughout the plant and ensure compliance with all regulations through procedure development, training, auditing, and document management. Provide guidance for plant management to operate the facility in an environmentally responsible manner. Additionally, this position is responsible for all phases of the plant quality assurance lab including managing site ISO requirements (9001, 14001, 45001).

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Write safety and environmental related procedures. Train employees on these procedures and audit compliance of personnel with these procedures.
  • Act as technical resource to plant management on environmental and safety issues
  • Participate in monitoring critical process variables and critical equipment concerns that bear a direct impact on safety and work with plant staff on implementing safety related projects
  • Act as liaison to Kemira corporate EHSQ function
  • Actively lead all safety and environmental incident investigations
  • Participate in all process safety related incident investigations, hazard analyses, PHA’s, etc.
  • Provide case management for all work-related medical incidents to ensure proper treatment, classification and worker compensation
  • Participate in employee emergency medical visits to ensure appropriate care is provided while maintaining due diligence in case management
  • Build and maintain relationships with local outside agency representatives (i.e. fire, labor, LEPC, industrial safety groups)
  • Report hazardous waste management and effect removal of onsite waste, hazardous and non-hazardous; biennial waste reduction potential
  • Report environmental protection performance and program compliance in storm water, clean air management and process water monitoring
  • Collect and maintain data needed to complete the OSHA 300 log
  • Monitor plant safety equipment (fire, respiratory protection, etc.) and replacement
  • Ensure company safety and environmental standards are met
  • Work with the Production Manager to ensure company quality standards in production are met
  • Ensure all established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed
  • Assist Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager and other staff in coordination of capital projects
  • Manage plant quality assurance lab for both process control and product quality
  • Accept other roles and responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, Occupational Health, Engineering, Science or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ chemical manufacturing experience
  • Certification in the following is preferred -- EMT, CSP, ASP, HAZWOPER, DOT, Industrial Hygiene
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong knowledge of government safety and environmental regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Ability to train personnel
  • Ability to write and review procedures
