General description of the job:

The Senior Process Engineer provides engineering support including process design, improvement, and troubleshooting, and is responsible for all aspects of process safety.  The Senior Process Engineer will also be involved in capital projects and may also serve as the project manager on select projects.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the Production Manager  and other members of the team to optimize plant processes
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on capital projects to ensure proper process design and equipment specification
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing
  • Drive continuous improvement of plant manufacturing processes and systems
  • Serve as site leader for all aspects of process safety
  • Update drawings, documents, and other process safety information as needed
  • Manage all aspects of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program.  Responsibilities include:
    • Management of change (MOC) process
    • Process hazard analysis (PHA) and risk assessment
    • Steward process safety and MOC action items to completion
    • Audit process safety-related policies and systems
    • Maintain Product Safety Information (PSI) files
    • Conduct pre-startup safety reviews (PSUSR)
    • Lead investigation and resolution of process incidents
    • Collaborate with Corporate Engineering to ensure site meets prescribed PSM standards
  • Assist with environmental regulatory reporting and compliance
  • Assist with creation of SOPs and COPs for new and existing equipment and processes as needed
  • Provide technical support and oversight to junior members of the engineering team

 

Desired Education, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Four year Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or related technical field)
  • Minimum 5 years process engineering experience in chemical manufacturing or related field
  • Familiar with requirements of PSM, RMP standards
  • Highly organized with strong administrative skills
  • Self-motivated; proven leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications and CAD familiarity.  SAP experience is ideal.
