We are now looking for Business Director to lead Kemira caustic soda (chlor-alkali) business for Kemira Pulp&Paper EMEA segment. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in global commodity chemical trading, global corporate sourcing and sales, proven track record of successful negotiations, good understanding of customer industries and chemicals market with excellent networking skills. Your previous exposure to supply chain including sea-, land- and terminal logistics is considered as a clear advantage. In addition, knowledge of the chlor-alkali market, its fundaments and pulp & paper market is highly valued. The position is permanent.


Kemira Pulp&Paper offers unique expertise in applying chemicals and supporting pulp, paper, board and tissue producers to innovate and continuously improve their operational efficiency and end-product quality in a sustainable way. Position is located preferably in Helsinki. You will be reporting to Commercial Director, Product Sales, Pulp&Paper EMEA.


What you can expect from us: 


  • Challenging role to lead and coordinate the caustic soda (chlor-alkali) business aiming to reach the set targets
  • Full accountability of the caustic soda business and performance in EMEA
  • Responsibility of commercial contracts and agreements (sourcing, logistics and sales)
  • Responsibility of the daily operations and planning
  • Working and leading the cross-functional team of people from sourcing, logistics, sales and production organizations driving for increased profitability, efficiency and sales
  • Developing and executing the chlor-alkali strategy aligned with Kemira strategy and business targets
  • A key role in the area of Nordic / Baltic / Finnish caustic soda (chlor-alkali) community
  • Distinguished position in the global caustic soda (chlor-alkali) network
  • A key role not only in the Pulp&Paper segment but in whole Kemira EMEA

What you’ll bring to the team: 


  • 5+ years experience in B2B sales with proven track record in chemical sales to various industries
  • 5+ years experience in B2B sourcing with proven track record of working with the large chemical corporations in Europe and oversees
  • Experience in global commodity chemical trade, sea-, land- and terminal logistics with ability to work with the 3rd parties is an advantage
  • Understanding the market from sourcing to sales and in between is crucial
  • Excellent team player with outstanding social skills
  • Ability to work and operate independently and in the matrix organization
  • Open minded, flexible with will do attitude in any situation
  • Excellent negotiation skills with ability to make prompt decisions
  • Fluency in English. Finnish is seen as an advantage
  • Willingness to travel
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is desired
