Title:  Vice President Biomaterials Paper and Board

We are seeking a driven Vice President Biomaterials Paper & Board to support Kemira’s long-term growth to become the leading provider of sustainable chemical solutions by providing focus, dedication and speed for selected strategic initiatives. The main accountabilities of the role are: 

  • Develop, Scale-Up, Commercialize and Sell new and unique Biomaterials and technical concepts into existing Paper & Board markets, especially in Barrier and Strength applications.
  • Lead a team of Business Development and Technical Sales Experts in providing business ownership, direction and implementation of the final stages of new biomaterial development, including customer proof-of-concept trials, manufacturing and commercial scale-up, product launches at global level, and technical sales of the new products
  • Co-lead collaboration and negotiations with prospective manufacturing and other partners
  • Develop and commercialize of new business models, services and products
  • Co-design and implement Strategy and Strategic marketing for P&B markets to influence and build the market, including: relevant market and technical analyses, value propositions, product development, Go-to-Market plans, pricing, promotion and distribution, as well as long-term stakeholder influencing including value chain partners, decision makers, key opinion leaders and target customers
  • Make contingencies for expansion plans
  • An intergral member of the Growth Accelerator Commercial Management team
  • Build, develop and lead a global team of appx 10 to 12 members including (Sr) Business Development and (Sr) Sales professionals

What you’ll bring to the team: 

  • Master’s degree or above, majoring in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Paper Chemistry or other relevant technical field; MBA or PhD is a plus.
  • Minimum 10-12 years experience in the chemical industry or other relevant industry; preferably in multiple industries
  • Solid understanding of Paper and Board industry, Biobased Materials and their applications
  • Proven business development and/or Sales track record is required, combined with ability develop partnerships and successfully scale up, launch and commercialize new products
  • Proven team management and talent development experience
  • Strong strategic thinking and courage to develop new creative solutions
  • Deep technical understanding of the field and the industry, combined with understanding of the market and regulatory trends, customer value creation, product development and value-selling
  • Sharp result-oriented commercial mindset combined with techno-optimistic attitude and resilience required for driving long-term commercial projects
  • Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and an ability to work across organizational boundaries
  •  Visible leadership and commitment in safety, ethics and compliance
