Skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

We are now looking for a E & I Technician  for our Marietta, GA location.

The Maintenance E&I Tech position will be responsible for monitoring the operation of site electrical, controls and instrumentation systems and provide maintenance support for production departments and facility. Maintenance work is a combination of scheduled and unscheduled prioritized by criticality and production urgency.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Ensures operation of machinery and electrical equipment by completing preventive   maintenance requirements on instrumentation, automated valves, motor control centers, motors, UPS, generators, electric heat tracing, emergency lighting, following procedures, work instructions, electrical single lines, loop and elementary drawings, electrical diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Locates sources of problems by testing / troubleshooting devices using precision measuring and testing instruments (IR Scanners, Multi-Meters, Hart Communicators, etc.)
  • Repairs defective equipment in place and in the case of instruments by removal, shop dismantling and re-assembly and re-installation.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques, monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates and installs conduit and completes wiring pulls and wiring terminations.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Execute all plant operations according to standard, quality and emergency procedures and supervisory instructions.
  • Perform all duties with minimal supervision.
  • Comply with environmental and safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain work areas in clean condition and perform housekeeping duties.
  • Participate in safety and quality programs as directed.

What you need: 

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and math skills.
  • Work history in an OSHA PSM covered chemical plant is preferred
  • Electrical knowledge and experience with wiring 277/460 3-Phase MCC buckets, Local Switch’s, Motors and Light Fixtures.
  • Ability to learn process and follow electrical and loop drawings, configuration instrumentation and follow company standards by actively consulting resources, associates, manuals, training department and policies.
  • Experience using industrial equipment is preferred i.e. Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, Manlifts, Boom’s, Hoists and Rigging.
  • Good practical sense working with and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation and controls problems. Able to work with minimal supervision within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash hazards and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to work independently but also in support of mechanical tasks.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Able to effectively communicate with all members of team.
  • PREFERRED – Has obtained and electrical certificate from a trade school or other recognized training facility.
