We are now looking for an experienced Senior Research Scientist to join Chemistry Team at our Shanghai R&D Center. You will work for water treatment chemical solution development and technical customer service. You will together with global R&D and local sales and application teams provide best product to support business needs.

 

Kemira R&D and Technology is a critical enabler within Kemira, securing organic growth and further differentiation in the market through co-creation and innovation with our customers. 

 

Main responsibilities are:

  • Developing, assessing and improving the performance of chemical solutions associated with water processes (harvesting, treatment, reuse, desalination, etc.) in water intensive area.
  • Innovative chemical solution development in total water management consumption reduction including Pulp & Paper, municipal industry, viscose, lyocell, nonwoven, textile dyeing and finishing process. 
  • Driving new chemical solution development in raw water, process water and wastewater treatment from ideation and project objectives and ending with final business plan, commercialization and hand-over. 
  • Partner with multiple functions (Application, Sales, Product line, PSRA, Manufacturing, IP) to develop and commercialize new chemical solution in alignment with Kemira's growth strategy
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in water treatment in Pulp & Paper, municipal  industry, textile and nonwoven. Propose and implement innovative water solutions to enhance product properties and performance.
  • Ability to design experimental, test programs, and develop novel solutions for application to project efforts
  • Understand and development of Kemira’s IP, product line, performance advatange and limitation, and customer needs.
  • Contribute to business and R&D new strategy development in textile, non-woven, renewable area.

What you need: 

  • PhD degree with at least 5 years’ work experience in the area of industral water, urban water, pulp & paper, textile, and nonwoven, or other relevant water intensive area.
  • Excellent knowledge on raw water, process water, and wastewater treatment.
  • Fundamental understanding and application of chemical approach in water treatment.
  • Good safety attitude and willingness to continuously improve safety culture in day-to-day operations
  • Innovative and research oriented attitude and passion to solve problems and courage to drive constant improvement by challenging existing status and identifying new ways of working
  • Result oriented team player with excellent collaboration skills and work independently. You are proactive and service-minded and you have desire to create networks
  • Fluent in reading, listening, writing, and speaking English
