We are now looking for an experienced Senior Applications Expert focused in Deposit Control for our Pulp & Paper Segment. This role is tasked with transferring product applications and process knowledge to support expedited sales growth in the region.  In addition to assisting in troubleshooting, this position will act as the lead technical resource during the sales process and product evaluations, focused to expedite sales growth on a regional basis. The candidate must have specific technology expertise in pulp and paper Deposit Control and Microbiological Control and have a strong understanding of paper process chemistry.  Position requires 60-80% overnight travel within the Americas.  

 

You will assist the sales team with technical expertise as it pertains to chemical applications at customer sites.  This will include providing chemical and process recommendations, assisting in product evaluations (trials), provide chemical application troubleshooting, assist in program performance reporting, equipment trouble shooting, and participate in commercial presentations.

 

 The responsibilities will include:

  • Adhere to corporate policies 
  • Prioritize field activity with Application Managers by bridging the gap between field sales, R&D and corporate marketing  and accepting input on project prioritization from the regional field sales management team; this should be accomplished by aligning quarterly and annual business plans with the regional sales growth objectives
  • Conduct Field Sales Training by acting as primary contact person for transferring product line applications training (one-on-one and at district meetings) to the regional sales force, including training of entire sales group
  • Assist sales in delivery of Customer Technical Presentations
  • Assist in Trial Planning and Proposal Preparation in conjunction with the sales team for targeted products
  • Act as primary onsite expert during the implementation of product trials at the customer’s mill
  • Troubleshoot Product quality or Applications concerns regarding the individual products at the customer mill site with the product manager, including on site testing and recommendations for “in house” work to be completed
  • Prepare Product Applications Guides jointly with the Product Manager for each product line
  • Prepare case histories and technical papers for Publishing in order to communicate product/program
  • Provide monthly communications to the Applications Managers
  • Provide other reporting communications as requested
  • Train field sales in the process of conducting Competitive Audits of our existing product applications looking for vulnerabilities that can be repaired prior to losing business
  • Interpret laboratory analysis Transfer learning and technology knowledge to the Product Managers and the rest of the global paper business of Kemira through case histories, proposals, presentations, email and call reports as well as technical briefs and papers
  • Comply with federal, state, corporate and customer health, safety and environmental policies

What you need: 

  • Four year Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or other related field (US) or Technical Institute Degree (Canada) or substantial industry experience with a successful track record
  • Advanced level knowledge of product lines, but specific expert status in area of specialization with a minimum of 8 years’ experience
  • Ability to demonstrate and utilize expert-level knowledge of applications specific to area of specialization
  • Prior commercial experience preferred
  • Good computer skills , particulary with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Expert level of understanding of the papermaking process and finished grade knowledge
  • Advanced level knowledge of product lines, but specific expert status in area of specialization
  • Ability to develop effective chemical program recommendations and proposals
  • Ability to perform statistical data analysis to evaluate program performance
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to understand and support corporate strategy and the product line strategies
  • Valid passport
