We are now looking for an experienced electrical and instrumentation technician for our Eastover, SC manufacturing facility in our Pulp & Paper segment. Electrical & Instrument (E&I) Technicians install, repair and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment, valves, lights, motors, and PLC hardware, all according to manufacturer’s or site specifications using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. You will need to be able to read and understand written work instructions, equipment/instrument manuals & diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Inspect, maintain, monitor, repair and/or replace items such as instruments, valves, disconnects, starters, and equipment specific controls (boilers, rectifiers, etc.) to protect personnel, assure safe operation, regulatory compliance, product quality, and to keep processes running efficiently.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and correct equipment malfunctions and abnormal situations.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble equipment such as automatic valves and actuators, electric motors, instrumentation, and pneumatic systems.
  • Remove and place back into service after calibrating control instrumentation such as level, flow, pressure and temperature transmitters, and process analyzers.
  • Measure, cut, bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wire, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, and lighting fixtures.
  • Assist Maintenance Planner in planning and developing job specific tasks and bill of materials.
  • Perform all duties with minimal supervision; complete work orders and paperwork as required.
  • Comply with safety and environmental procedures and regulations and follow all plant policies.
  • Maintain work areas in clean condition and perform housekeeping duties.
  • Participate in safety and planning meetings as directed.
  • Must be capable of working with others in a team environment.

What you’ll bring to the team: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree or certifications for electrical training and instrumentation training from a trade school or other recognized training facility.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills, basic computer and math skills required.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds, ascend 4+ flights of stairs, climb ladders and work in adverse conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing facility (i.e. hot/cold/rainy weather conditions, cramped or confining spaces, loud and/or dusty environments). 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience in SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred.
