Title:  Quality Control Chemist

Kemira Pulp & Paper offers unique expertise in applying chemicals and supporting pulp and paper producers to innovate and constantly improve their operational efficiency and end-product quality. We are now looking for an experienced Quality Control Chemist to provide analytical and technical support to the Eastover Chlorate Plant, Eastover Fabrication Shop, and Augusta Chlorate Plant located in Eastover, SC and Augusta, Ga. The Quality Control Chemist will need to be able to develop and adapt lab procedures and help in experimental design as needed to assist with solving problems and continuously improving plant/shop processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical services for Eastover and Augusta sodium chlorate plants as well as for other Kemira plants on an as-needed basis with guidance from the Eastover Fabrication Shop Manager, Anode Coatings Manager, Eastover Plant Management, and the Chlorate Technology Group.
  • Manage maintenance of all Analytical Instrumentation, including scheduling of preventative maintenance. 
  • Develop and manage laboratory procedures for plant and shop samples as needed.
  • Perform and/or assist in experiments aimed at improvements to chlorate production or precious metal coatings/anode production, with guidance as necessary from above referenced management.
  • Use, maintain and develop key databases for sample analysis for the plants and shop.
  • Assist, as necessary with maintenance of several key databases for the Eastover Fabrication Shop, including, but not limited to:
  1. Master Analytical Table
  2. Master Anode Manufacturing Table
  3. Safety related databases and other safety related items

What you need: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.  Some Engineering courses would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and be able to work independently
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications and the ability to learn additional software as needed
