 We are looking for a Technical Service/Sales Representative for the Western Canadian region. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for maintaining existing business in the oil sands and EOR market, and support the development of additional opportunities and applications with both existing and new customers. This role will consist of field visits to customer locations to assist with product evaluation and trials, ongoing application support, training, recommendations and roll out when appropriate. The ideal candidate must possess technical expertise and the ability to work on their own as well as in a team environment. This role will expose you to oil sands mining and thermal operations, as well as enhanced oil recovery applications.


Responsibilities will include:

  • On-site technical service for equipment & chemicals
  • Undertake the process surveys, problem diagnoses, chemical selection and application, preparation and presentation of technical recommendations to customers, chemical selection validation
  • Support the territory in business development and maintenance of existing accounts
  • Support the technical requirements of business and management staff
  • Network with industry and operational contacts


Desired skills and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or Chemical Engineering degree or technical diploma in a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical field-based role is preferred
  • Ability to think critically in order to effectively diagnose problems and apply economically sound solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and associates
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to travel
  • Strong understanding of oil sands related processes, enhanced oil recovery processes, and related downstream oil and water treatment processes and facilities


Expected travel is 40% to 60% (field based role out of the Fort McMurray region in Alberta, Canada)
