Kemira is seeking a Senior IP Advisor to play a key role in strengthening the IP foundation and supporting innovation. In this role, you will partner closely with world-class experts across IP, research, innovation, product development, and business organizations to turn new ideas into protected, value-creating solutions.

You will be part of our global IP & Innovation Solutions team, influencing key decisions and shaping the patent landscape in your technology area. This role reports to the Director, IP & Innovation Solutions and is based at Kemira’s new Innovation Center in Espoo, Finland. As a Senior IP Advisor, you will:

• Lead and manage a business-relevant patent portfolio and define patenting strategies that support Kemira’s commercial goals.
• Inspire and enable strong invention activities together with R&I and commercial teams.
• Review invention disclosures, assess patentability, and guide innovators with confidence and clarity.
• Drive the patenting process end-to-end together with external attorneys.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate IP risks, including freedom-to-operate analyses and oppositions.
• Advise on IP-related contractual matters in research partnerships.
• Champion IP awareness across Kemira by providing training, guidance, and thought leadership.

What you’ll bring to the team:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in patenting and providing IP guidance for RDI and commercial teams.
• Master’s or PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.
• In-depth knowledge of European patent law; familiarity with global systems (US, China, PCT).
• European Patent Attorney qualification is an asset.
• Experience with data and advanced IP management tools (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A structured, detail-oriented working style combined with strong strategic and business-driven thinking.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across teams.
