We are looking for an experienced Logistics and Materials Manager for our Mobile, AL location. This position directs and manages the Materials Management and Logistics department which is responsible for local and business related supply chain aspects, including purchasing, receiving, packaging, shipping, and inventory management to serve site and business service level needs.  Provides leadership and establishes priorities for the department in support of plant and business needs.  Creates a positive environment enabling the achievement of objectives which meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations. This position will report to the Plant Manager.

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Act as a site champion for safety, health and environmental, and mental wellbeing.  Critical support of the site Safety Programs and initiatives aimed towards employee engagement and zero incidents target.
  • Coordinate local supply chain aspects including product packaging, purchasing, receiving, shipping, and inventory management.  Critically responsible for the economics of the function for the site.
  • Act as support planner in Raw Materials and Production Scheduler as needed to support team.
  • Collaborate with the Sourcing & Procurement group to sustainably source raw materials and packaging.
  • Manage expansion and contraction of inventory levels during seasonal and expected stress point situations fully utilizing SAP planning and reorder point tools.
  • Develop and maintain supplier and carrier relationships.
  • Escalate supply chain issues through line management aimed to zero ‘run out’ status.
  • Drive improvement of On-Time, In-Full (OTIF) shipments.
  • Maintain compliance with  EHSQ management systems and procedures.
  • Maintain and publish metrics for the department through the DMS.
  • Serve as site champion for the SAP MM and SD modules.
  • Maximize the use of available SAP tools to facilitate supply chain activities.
  • Drive Slow Moving and Offgrade to zero.

What you need:

  • Four year Bachelor’s degree in related field (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering discipline an advantage) with a minimum of 5 years’ related work experience or a minimum 8 years’ experience in materials management activities.
  • Minimum 4 years’ prior supervisory experience.
  • Good leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong Lean and data driven mentality with solution orientation to issue resolution.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Experience with business management systems, preferably SAP
