We are now looking for a Principal Scientist for our Shanghai R&D Center. You will work with teammate for chemical performance evaluation and new product development. You will together with global R&D and local sales and application teams provide best data to support business needs.

 

Kemira R&D and Technology is a critical enabler within Kemira, securing organic growth and further differentiation in the market through co-creation and innovation with our customers.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Building lab competency in lyocell, viscose, nonwoven or other man-made cellulose fiber including lab simulation method for chemical performance evaluation.
  • Leading and conducting research to develop innovative chemical solutions for improving textile/nonwoven fiber materials, processes, and applications.
  • Develop textile team and competency to meet Kemira new strategy requirement. 
  • Collaboration with cross functional teams including global R&D, sales, applications, start up, university, etc to ensure effective coordination and knowledge development.
  • Manage R&D projects including defining research objectives, experimental designs, timelines and strategies to achieve project goals plus reporting progress to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in chemical science relevant to textile (lyocell, viscose, nonwoven). Drive advanced research and development initiatives focused on leveraging chemical innovations.
  • Lyocell fiber value chain development through chemical based on Kemira existing chemical portfolio and noval chemical development such as fibrillation, dyeing, spinning, stabilizer of NMMO, wastewater treatment and so on.
  • Understand and development of Kemira’s IP and product line. Familiar with the performance advatange and limitation, and customer needs
  • Contribute to business and R&D strategy development in sustainability and propose new projects to R&D for business development

 

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • PhD degree with at least 10 years’ work experience in textile, cellulose fiber, lyocell fiber, nonwoven, or other relevant area.
  • Fundamental understanding and application of lyocell and nonwoven industry.
  • Excellent knowledge on lyocell fiber process.
  • Good safety attitude and willingness to continuously improve safety culture in day-to-day operations
  • Innovative and research-oriented attitude and passion to solve problems and courage to drive constant improvement by challenging existing status and identifying new ways of working.
  • Result oriented team player with excellent collaboration skills and work independently. You are proactive and service-minded, and you have desire to create networks.
  • Fluent in reading, listening, writing, and speaking English.
