We are now looking for a Research Scientist for our Shanghai R&D Center. You will work with teammate for chemical performance evaluation and new product development. You will together with global R&D and local sales and application teams provide best data to support business needs.
Kemira R&D and Technology is a critical enabler within Kemira, securing organic growth and further differentiation in the market through co-creation and innovation with our customers.
In this role you will be responsible for:
• Develop and optimize chemical solution for non-woven production which focus on cellulose fiber raw material, including capacity development, the selection of chemical additives, new product development, etc.
• Develop nonwoven lab performance evaluation techniques to deliver representative solution in customer pain point resolving.
• Assist in installation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of specialized equipment designed for nonwoven applications. Identify and develop testing methodology to support process and product development.
• Partner with multiple functions (Application, Sales, Product line, PSRA, Manufacturing, IP) to develop and commercialize new product in alignment with Kemira's growth strategy
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in non-woven fiber chemistry. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance product properties and performance.
• Ability to design experimental, test programs, and develop novel procedures for application to project efforts
• Understand and development of Kemira’s IP, product line, performance advatange and limitation, and customer needs.
• Contribute to business and R&D new strategy development in non-woven area.
What you’ll bring to the team:
• PhD degree with at least 3 years’ work experience in the area of cellulose textile, or relevant area.
• Excellent knowledge on non-woven area, especially on man-made cellulose fiber for non-woven production.
• Fundamental understanding and application of chemical approach in non-woven.
• Good safety attitude and willingness to continuously improve safety culture in day-to-day operations.
• Innovative and research oriented attitude and passion to solve problems and courage to drive constant improvement by challenging existing status and identifying new ways of working.
• Result oriented team player with excellent collaboration skills and work independently. You are proactive and service-minded and you have desire to create networks.
• Fluent in reading, listening, writing, and speaking English.
