Title:  Senior Research Scientist

 We are now looking for an experienced Sr Research Scientist/Research Scientist for our R&D Center in Shanghai, China.

What you will bring to the team:

  • PhD/MSc degree in  polymer or organic chemistry from an accredited college/university
  • Prefer 5-10 years industrial or laboratory experience
  • Bio-material application or Barrier development
  • Hands on lab synthesis at least 5 years
  • Experience with bio-based monomers is strongly desired and familiarity is expected as a minimum.

 

Competencies and skills required:

  • Has developed expertise in the area of polymer synthesis
  • Advanced knowledge in polymer design and piloting such as emulsion polymer, solution polymer etc.
  • Has strong interest in bio-material application or Barrier development
  • Has successfully demonstrated the ability to complete large, complex assignments and projects and is able to work independently.
  • Able to effectively communicate scientific results both orally and in written reports demonstrated by external publications.
  • Is capable of working well in a team environment.
  • Fluent in both oral and written English
  • Good team work
  • Willing travel

 

Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Lead new product development
  • Manages project work and independently. Devises new experiments to test hypotheses and develops novel procedures and applies them to project efforts.
  • Support Kemira APAC manufacture site troubleshooting
  • Required to develop and understanding of Kemira’s intellectual property, product line, performance advantages and limitations, testing methods, and customer needs.
  • Responsible for proposing and developing new technologies and product lines for strategic opportunities to meet customer needs that lead to value added intellectual property.
  • May be required to travel frequently to customer and/or manufacturing sites to conduct tests
