We are now looking for a Senior Research Scientist for our Shanghai R&D Center. You will work with teammate for new product development. You will together with global R&D and local sales and application teams provide best solution to support business needs.

Kemira R&D and Technology is a critical enabler within Kemira, securing organic growth and further differentiation in the market through co-creation and innovation with our customers. 

 

In this role you will be responsible for:
•    Chemical/additive development in dissolved pulp for supporting customers needs and new megatrend of cellulose fiber such as alternative raw material for textile fiber (lyocell, nonwoven, viscose).
•    Wood/natural fiber extraction and modification for new functionality development such as textile, lyocell, viscose fiber, non-woven research, etc.
•    Chemical development and formulation for man-made cellulose fiber process improvement and optimization.
•    Understand and developmeng of Kemira’s IP, product line, performance advatange and limitation, and customer needs.
•    Ability to execute experimental designs and testing programs. And develop novel procedures for application to project efforts.
•    Project management skills to lead NPD project from lab-scale experiments to full-scale commerical products.
•    Contribute to Kemira new strategy in bio-based area and propose new projects to R&D for new business development.

 

What you’ll bring to the team:  
•    PhD degree with at least 5 years’ work experience in the area of cellulose fiber research, or other relevant area..
•    Excellent knowledge on dissovling pulp area, especially on man-made cellulose fiber for modification and application
•    Fundamental understanding and application of bio-based materials
•    Good safety attitude and willingness to continuously improve safety culture in day-to-day operations
•    Innovative and research oriented attitude and passion to solve problems and courage to drive constant improvement by challenging existing status and identifying new ways of working
•    Result oriented team player with excellent collaboration skills and work independently. You are proactive and service-minded and you have desire to create networks
•    Fluent in reading, listening, writing, and speaking English
