Title:  Plant Engineer

We are looking for a Process/Project Engineer for our Pulp & Paper Segment to support the Washougal, WA Site by performing various engineering tasks as directed by the plant manager. 


The Process/Project engineer will be responsible for preparing capital projects, equipment improvements and modifications, new product development, and troubleshooting existing process problems in keeping with corporate, federal, state and industry process safety standards.


The responsibilities will include:


  • Defining, estimating, and submitting capital projects for the Washougal site. 
  • Assisting in the execution and commissioning of capital projects by tracking budget (actual vs. budget and schedule)
  • Serving as site leader for process safety including:
    • Performing Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and risk assessments
    • Conducting pre-startup safety reviews (PSUSR)
    • Participating in root cause investigations and resolutions for process incidents and near misses as required
  • Coordinating the MOC process, specifically those aspects related to engineering standards and projects.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance for Operations and Maintenance as needed.
  • Developing and assisting in the implementation of corporate Equipment Utilization and OEE processes.
  • Driving continuous improvement of plant processes & systems to improve safety, maximize throughput, minimize costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Supporting new product introduction and technology transfer.
  • Assisting with creation of SOPs for new and existing equipment and processes as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining site equipment specific LOTO procedures.

What you need:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years experience in chemical manufacturing or related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience in managing capital projects from conception through completion
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to accomplish goals and objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite required (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Business management systems, SAP preferred, specifically modules MM and PM
